A1 Systems and SberMobile have launched A1S OTA, a solution for remote SIM card management.
A1S OTA enable any MNO or MVNO to manage files and programs (SIM applets) installed on subscribers’ SIM cards remotely. Management is performed using specific commands delivered to a SIM card via SMS or via IP using CAT_TP or HTTPS.
A1S OTA solution also helps the operator to reduce the risk of subscribers churn and save its own resources, because if you have to modify any information on the SIM card, no need to invite a subscriber to a service office to replace physically the SIM card.
Moreover, the A1S OTA is an important tool to optimize the operator’s roaming costs. With this solution, you can configure the SIM card on the fly in a way that the automatic choice of a roaming partner is optimal for a country in which the subscriber is located. As a result, the operator can offer its subscribers advantageous data roaming plans.
The project was done in two months. During this time A1 Systems engineers have developed additional functionality according to SberMobile specification, deployed the solution into the operator’s data center and integrated it with all necessary network nodes. Installed solution was configured to use an IP channel to manage SIM cards instead of less reliable and slow SMS channel.
The SberMobile is a Russian MNVO which working since 2018. The operator is a subsidiary of PJSC Sberbank — one of the largest banks in Russia. Sberbank services are used by more than 145 million customers in 22 countries throughout the world.
