Ad-hoc surveys by various cell operators partnering with A1 Systems show that the SIM applet included in Interactive Cell Broadcast solution is compatible with at least 95% mobile devices popular in Eastern Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. Totally over 6000 devices supported including those from Apple iPhone, Nokia, Samsung, LG, HTC, ZTE and Alcatel.
Currently, conventional Cell Broadcast is gaining importance as a powerful method of emergency notification and is actively used by government authorities in many countries. Cell Broadcast outpaces SMS notifications in a higher speed and a lower network load. Broadcast messages are delivered almost instantly to millions of subsctibers located in the emergency area. However, not all mobile devices may display traditional broadcast messages. To reach out for a higher number of subscribers, an applet is installed on a SIM card. The applet ensures immediate receipt and display of messages on most of terminal devices.
SIM applet included in Interactive Cell Broadcast (ICB) from A1 Systems enables a reliable channel for an extended number of recepients. ICB makes it possible to quickly and easily schedule a broadcast campaign, which is critical in emergency situations. Morevoer, subscribers entering the emergency area get automatically and immediately notified, which would be impossible with traditional communication tools.
